31806 "Stars of the Royal Bavarian State Railroad (K.Bay.Sts.B.)"
Steam Locomotive Set. |
|
|
Prototype:
3 different Bavarian steam locomotives. 1 class Gt 2x4/4 steam tank locomotive,
1 class B VI steam locomotive with a tender, and 1 class S 3/6 steam locomotive
with a tender. All of the locomotives come in an elegant blue paint scheme,
with applied golden boiler bands and exposed parts. The locomotives look
as they did around 1910 to 1915.
Model: Class Gt 2x4/4: This locomotive comes with an
mfx digital decoder and extensive sound functions. It has controlled high-efficiency
propulsion. 4 axles powered. Traction tires. The frame is articulated
to enable the locomotive to negotiate sharp curves. The design of this
locomotive does not allow installation of a smoke generator. The locomotive
has dual headlights that change over with the direction of travel, will
work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. It also
has numerous separately applied details. Length over the buffers 20.3
cm / 8". Class B VI: This locomotive comes with an mfx digital decoder
and extensive sound functions. It has controlled high-efficiency propulsion
with a can motor with a bell-shaped armature, in the boiler. 2 axles powered.
Traction tires. The design of this locomotive does not allow installation
of a smoke generator. The locomotive has triple headlights on the locomotive
and dual headlights on the tender that change over with the direction
of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled
digitally. There is a close coupling between the locomotive and tender.
Length over the buffers 16.3 cm / 6-7/16". Class S 3/6: This locomotive
comes with an mfx digital decoder and extensive sound functions. It has
controlled high-efficiency propulsion. 3 axles powered. Traction tires.
A 72270 smoke generator can be installed in the locomotive. The locomotive
has dual headlights that change over with the direction of travel. They
and the smoke generator contact will work in conventional operation and
can be controlled digitally. Length over the buffers 24.9 cm / 9-13/16".
A suitable collector's display case including a presentation base for
the locomotives comes with this set. An excellent art print of a painting
in water colors done by Peter Bomhard, famous for his railroad works is
mounted on the back wall of the display case. This painting was done exclusively
for this product.

Gas- turbine Powered Rail Car
|
| Prototype:
German Federal Railroad (DB) class 602 InterCity train. Rebuilt version
of the VT 11.5 TEE powered rail car train with gas-turbine propulsion.
Model:
Era IV, frame and body of powered end cars and intermediate cars made
of die-cast metal. Digital decoder for DCC and Trix systems, can also
be used in conventional operation. Both powered end cars with 5-pole high-efficiency
motor and with sound effects generator. 4 powered axles. Headlights with
LED, digitally controlled. Installed interior lighting, digitally controlled.
Continuous electric contact and special close couplings with guide mechanism
between the cars. Direction-of-travel dependent power supply Separately
applied grab irons. Total train length 880 mm / 34-21/32”.
The success of TEE and InterCity traffic pushed the elegant diesel powered
rail car trains to the limits of their capacity. In order for 10-car units
to reach speeds of 160 km/h or 100 mph they needed more power. More powerful
diesel motors would have been too large and two heavy, consequently the
German Federal Railroad decided on turbine propulsion. The first class
601 powered end car was rebuilt in 1970/1971. The end car was given a
2400 hp turbine to replace the 1200 hp diesel motor. Although it was twice
as powerful, the turbine was more compact, with a significantly increased
air throughput. Huge intake air, ventilation, and exhaust air channels
filled the round nose of the powered end car. On the outside the new propulsion
could be identified by the wide exhaust stack between the windows of the
vehicle cab and by the additional air hoods. They ensure that the turbines
take in sufficient air in both directions of travel, also with a trailing
powered end car.
Digital functions with TRIX Systems and DCC: • Triple white
headlights and two red marker lights • Cars with interior lighting
• Gas-turbine sound effect • Horn • Whistle signal 1
• Direct control without delay • Whistle signal 2 •
Compressed air burst sound effect • Compressed air hiss sound effect
• Fan sound effects • Braking sound effect • Door sound
effects
Delivery will start in the 2nd quarter of 2005. |
